Tired of subsistence living in an impoverished land, Tenna opts to become a cloistered, cozened resident of the Tower—a glittering, exclusive skyscraper where residents are watched by paying patrons and rewarded on a rating scale. Inside, life is luxurious: plenty of food, beauty, and excitement. But the games she’s encouraged to play on the first level show only the surface of the Tower’s dark core. As the quest for ratings draws her deeper across personal boundaries, she discovers more than survival is at stake under the gloss.
